Pandemic had changed our work routines, our sleep pattern, eating habits. Which changed all the body cycles including the menstrual cycle.

The menstrual cycle is regulated in the hypothalamus, which manages the pituitary gland and controls the release of different hormones. It releases the Follicle-stimulating hormone and Luteinizing hormones which trigger the ovaries to make progesterone and estrogen. These are the two hormones that thicken the lining of the uterus to prepare the body for pregnancy. If pregnancy does not occur the hormone level drops and the lining of the uterus sheds, causing bleeding, known as menstruation.

The hypothalamus also responds to stress and when there is a change in the body, it also changes the release of hormones which affects the menstrual cycle and causes altered periods. Stress leads to an increase in cortisol, which suppresses the hormone cycle.

You can get back on track with your cycle by simply get back to the routine and reduce stress. You can practice meditation, yoga. You should have a healthy diet and get at least eight hours of sleep. Yoga will help you to reduce stress and get mental peace. All this will help you to reduce the stress which eventually decreases the cortisol level. By changing your lifestyle, you can get back to your normal cycle.
